Hi, firstly, let me say I love this game and I love the fact that we Swedes deliver so many good/interesting ones.

Well, the game mode I am thinking about is based on good old Dig-Dug http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dig-Dug.
The goal of the game would be to dig around to find all the hidden "Nuggets" which could be any Mineral. When all the nuggets are found, the game ends and the server counts who found the most.
Both "Teamdeatmatch" and "Deathmatch" could work for this, meaning it would be DM with a twist, you don't count frags, you count nuggets.
Possibility would also be to have it so that when you have 2 or more "nuggets" and someone kills you, you drop half the nuggets, just a suggestion.

So what does people say about his idea?

EDIT: Hmm, it wasn't dig-dug I meant apparently. But some here should know what game I mean and can tell it here for me Razz

I think I know which old arcade game you were referring to. Can't seem to remember the name though.

This was actually my original idea for the first game mode to be made. It fits perfectly with this kind of destructible landscape. Digging out gems from the ground and carry them to your base. Getting killed would make you drop your gems which in turn encourages team work, defending and escorting people who are digging or hunt down opponents and steal their gems.

I can't remember why we chose to put that mode on hold, I guess it had something to do with us wanting to have some familiar game modes from the start so that players would more easily be able to pick up this game. Even with well-known game modes, alot of players seems to have had some problem getting accustomed to the spherical gravity and the ever-changing landscape.

If we are to implement a new game mode, this will definitely be it. I don't know when or if this will happen, since the three of us mainly involved with developing the game have very little time to spare at the moment. If we get some more time, we will definitely trying to make it. We've been lacking a game mode that is unique and would define our game.

Sounds cool it was what you were looking for to start. I know a few that would start playing this game just because of the game mode.
I hope it will be implemented soon, but it's no hurry I guess, you guys probably have alot of other things to do, if I understand correctly you guys are still studying? Or did you finish studying already? The reason I come to this conclusion is that I think I remember something about this game being in the SGA (or is it called SWGA?). I have a friend who works at a Game Development university here in Sweden (PSQ I think it is called). He was the programmer for Noledo a couple years back and his group were put on 2nd place due to a technicality *lol*

Well, I hope CI will continue development, 'cause I really like it. The Spherical gravity makes me kind of dizzy, but that's ok.
Btw. I am studying AI programming (home studies on free time), and I was wondering if it would be ok for me to try and make the Bots for CI a little better when I actually can put the code together in a working fashion. Too bad you have a closed source, but that doesn't matter though as AI when programmed well can be implemented with little change even if the original source is not available.

Yes indeed we are still studying. We're at our last year at our university studies and all of us are also working on the side which unfortunately takes away most of our free time, which means little time to spend on CI.

Our 'bots' are not really bots, they are only used for testing animations, weapon effects and other things that would otherwise require two players to be able to test. I don't think they even have a moving pattern, they are just standing still and holding fire Smile
We have planned to open the source code at some point, at first only the game code so that mods could be made, but later we might open the entire code.

Ah, ok. Well, the day you release the source, I will be REALLY happy. Also, the day you guys get the free time to work on CI, 'cause I have a feeling it will take strange turns when people get to modify it Razz
